Kings Island Amusement Park
One of the nation’s top amusement parks is only 6 miles from the Shaker Inn. King’s Island opens weekends starting in April and every day from May 22 – August 30th. Soak City Waterpark
Soak City is King’s Islands waterpark opening in May 2012. With water slides, tropical lagoons, rushing rivers, surfable waves, careening waterfalls and three family activity areas, you’ll have a terrific day of summer entertainment. Details.

Caesar Creek State Park & Lake
In Waynesville, off State Route 73. Enjoy fishing, boating, camping, picnicing and swimming at Caesar Creek State Park. See lovingly reconstructed historical structures in Caesar Creek Pioneer Village with interactive exhibits and artifacts. Details.

National Museum of the United States Air Force
Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton boasts the largest aircraft museum in the country other than the Smithsonian Institution. The museum cronicals the history of flight showcasing aircraft including the 1909 Wright flyer as well as modern and space vehicles. The museum is open 7 days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and admission is free. Details.

The Golden Lamb, Ohio’s Oldest Inn
Ohio’s oldest hotel is located about one mile from the Shaker Inn. For over 200 years, the Golden Lamb Inn has been a hub of activity for early travelers, including a dozen Presidents. Tour the hotel and enjoy lunch or dinner in the formal main dining room or in the more casual setting of the Black Horse Tavern. Details.

Historic Lebanon
Having just celebrated their bicentennial, Lebanon is full of history. Visit museums, galleries and antique shops in the downtown area or take a ride on the Turtle Creek & Lebanon Railway’s 1880 tracks. Come see us during the holidays for the Christmas Festival and Horse-Drawn Carriage Parade or enjoy any of our charming home town’s annual events.

The Lebanon Opry House
This Grand Ole Opry-style historic venue brings concerts, performances and shows for the whole family to the heart of Lebanon every week. Check their 2012 calendar of events for specific performance dates and times. Details.

Harness Racing at the Lebanon Raceway

Fort Ancient State Memorial
Fort Ancient is the site of the second largest Indian burial mound site in the nation. The fort-like walls of stone and clay were constructed between 300 B.C. and 600 A.D. by the Hopewell People. Open year ’round. Fort Ancient is seven miles southeast of Lebanon, in Warren County, on State Route 350. Check their website for seasonal hours. Details.

Cincinnati Zoo
This 75 acre park and botanical garden is only minutes away off I-75. Opened in 1875, the Cincinnati Zoo is now ranked among the top zoos in the country with over 500 animal species and over 3,000 plant varieties. In addition to being a great warm-weather destination, the zoo’s beautiful holiday festival of lights makes the park a winter wonderland as well. Details.

Cincinnati Reds Baseball
Visit the Red’s brand new Great American Ballpark for a memorable outing with the whole family. The ballpark is on the Ohio riverfront accessible from I-71 or I-75 south. Make a day of it at Newport on the Levy or stroll the serpentine wall. Shop and enjoy Cincinnati and root for America’s home team, the Cincinnati Reds. Details.

Bike Trail
CCSC is less than one mile from the Little Miami Scenic bike trail. Within three miles are several parking and access points. Go to www.miamivalleytrails.org.
